Assistant Staff — Physicist

MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented, scientifically driven physicist with hands-on lab experience. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team pushing the forefront of quantum engineering.

The Quantum Information and Integrated Nanosystems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory conducts quantum information science research from a shared foundation of innovative research, state-of-the-art fabrication tools, and well-equipped measurement infrastructure. The group conducts a broad range of experimental and prototyping activities. The group’s quantum information science activities include the development of superconducting, trapped-ion, and diamond nitrogen-vacancy center qubits.

Job Description

An assistant staff member must have a versatile set of skills, proficient teaming skills, and willingness to work on all aspects of a project including, but not limited to: implementation, test planning, hardware, test and measurement, software, system integration, data analysis, and system engineering.

Requirements * BS degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Test and measurement experience
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, LabVIEW, Mathematica
  • Strong teaming skills
  • Atomic molecular optics (AMO), precision measurement, quantum computing, quantum sensing background experience or background in equivalent fields

Preferred * Ultra high vacuum or cryogenic experience

  • CAD design
  • RF and microwave experience
