Folia Materials’s first products use an innovative green chemistry process to use large-scale paper machinery to manufacture low-cost nano-metal functionalized materials that create new bio-based products. This full-time summer position is ideal for a motivated renewable materials/paper/chemical engineer seeking a high-growth role that will build cutting-edge technical skills. The candidate will play a key role in prototyping, scale-up, qualification, and deployment efforts for Folia Material’s breakthrough technology. Candidates who can demonstrate a track record of rapidly mastering new technical skills are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for technical R&D in Folia Material’s Lab in suburban Boston, MA. This position involves laboratory R&D to evaluate Folia’s materials. This position is primarily focused on wet lab chemistry. Successful candidates will perform laboratory tests efficiently and correctly, and communicate well with their team.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (chemical engineering, environmental engineering, renewable materials chemistry, paper science and engineering, fiber/textile science) is required.
  • Experience in cellulosic materials, pulp and paper, or textiles is helpful
  • Experience working in a laboratory, maintaining and operating equipment, and maintaining records and reports of product development activities is preferred.

Skills of particular interest include:

  • Chemistry lab experience
  • Materials characterization testing
