This is a paid summer internship (3-4 months) in our Denver, CO office for an upper-level college student, recent graduate, or graduate student in the civil engineering field. This internship presents the opportunity to gain experience and insight into various aspects of the consulting engineering industry from project planning through field work and client management. Typical projects include a wide variety of municipal projects including: dams, aggregate mines, storm water, grading, and related ancillary facilities.

Expected hourly rate $19 to $23, DOE

Your Role:

Perform conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses

Assist in preparation of detailed engineering reports and supporting documents

Assist in preparation of construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates

Ensure standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects

Organization and review of construction documents including submittals and RFIs

Perform field work including construction observation and geotechnical investigations

Desktop research, data entry

Interface with other engineering disciplines

Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost effective and compliant manner

Perform other related duties as assigned


Third or fourth year student enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil, geological engineering or similar

Excellent writing skills that include the ability to read and comprehend technical & scientific information, and exceptional attention to detail

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to proficiently communicate with other members of the Tetra Tech team

Familiarity with relevant codes and industry standards.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) programs. Proficiency in HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS is preferred.
