Holyoke Public Schools (HPS) serves 5,300 students in 13 schools and employs nearly 1200 people. It is an exciting time of change and transformation at HPS. Although there are many strengths within the District and many students graduate college and career ready, HPS was placed in receivership by the State of Massachusetts due to chronically struggling performance well below the state average. HPS Technology Department Overview:

Overseen by the Director of Technology and Systems, the HPS Technology Department manages the deployment of over 7,000 Chromebooks, 2,000 PC laptops/desktops, and over 2500 iPads. HPS has a robust network infrastructure supporting strong connectivity in all HPS buildings. The department is staffed with 2 Technicians, 2 Senior Technicians, the IT Manager, Director of Technology and Systems and is supported by part-time Engineers from outside vendors. Each school has a stipended Tech Lead to support technology in our school buildings.


The Help Desk Intern will provide support related to summer technology operations tasks.


The primary purpose of this role is to support the HPS Technology Team by performing yearly maintenance on student devices (Chromebooks and iPads). This maintenance includes clearing devices, updating the operating system, and keeping detailed inventory notes for all devices. Collaborates with or passes more complex problems to Technicians or Senior Technicians

Job Duties:

  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves level one problems for student devices.
  • Performs yearly maintenance on student devices.
  • Organizes and maintains a detailed inventory for student devices.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining daily up-keep and administration of the District systems and databases.
  • Inventory, image, tag, set up, and deliver end-user hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Education and experience in a related field that would provide the required knowledge and abilities
  • Strong customer-centered communication skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, G-Suite, SCCM, Active Directory, and some specialized educational software and student management systems preferred.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must have the physical ability to carry out the primary functions of the job
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and able to travel between multiple sites
