Job description: Human Resources Assistant

  • Administer HR programs related to the development and administration of company-wide human resources policies and practices
  • Assist on issues related to recruiting and retention strategies
  • Help roll out employee programs and HR policies
  • Advise and assist leads and management with human resources issues
  • Assist with sensitive and confidential staff issues
  • Coordinate employee events and activities
  • Advise on employee-relations activities including, but not limited to, employee counseling, interpretation of policies, new employee orientation, and employee recognition programs.
  • Greet customers and oversee the reception area
  • Must be composed at the front desk while supporting a fast pace office environment
  • Administrative duties
  • Answering employee, customer and vendor questions
  • Processing incoming mail
  • Creating and distributing documents
  • Providing customer service to organization employees
  • Serving as a point of contact with benefit vendors/administrators
  • Maintaining computer system by updating and entering data
  • Setting appointments and arranging meetings
  • Maintaining calendars of HR management team
  • Compiling reports and spreadsheets and preparing spreadsheets

HR assistant is also involved in a number of areas of human resources, including:

Recruitment/New Hire Process

  • Participating in recruitment efforts
  • Posting job ads and organizing resumes and job applications
  • Scheduling job interviews and assisting in interview process
  • Communicates with departments regarding staffing needs
  • Ensuring background and reference checks are completed
  • Preparing new employee files
  • Overseeing the completion of compensation and benefit documentation
  • Orienting new employees to the organization (setting up a designated log-in, workstation, email address, etc.)
  • Conducting benefit enrollment process
  • Administering new employment assessments
  • Serving as a point person for all new employee questions


  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+years of related HR experience
  • Understanding of human resources practices, including employment law, Affirmative Action, and EEO compliance
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good judgement in handling difficult situations with employees
  • Excellent Excel and Word skills

Job Type: Full-time

Expected salary: $20 – 24 per hour

Location: Fairfield, CA
