Job Description:

Postdoctoral researcher will be involved with initiatives to evaluate the productiveness of Industrial Hemp in Louisiana. This will include agronomic research on production systems devoted to fiber/grain types and essential oils. Applied and molecular genetics approaches towards understanding and improving hemp strains via line and hybrid development will be involved, especially as it relates to fiber properties. Individual hired into this position will be allowed to undertake some fully independent research to take advantage of the applicant’s specific expertise and interests. The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to play a part in designing and conducting field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments; analyzing data; writing manuscripts; and presenting results at meetings, conferences and field days.

Qualification Requirements: PhD degree in plant breeding/genetics, horticulture, or agronomic field crop research is required. Preference will be given to applicants with molecular genetic experience in combination with applied plant breeding training. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and a willingness and ability to interact and collaborate with other scientists are essential to the success of the research. A valid Louisiana State driver’s license and ability to drive is required at the time of appointment.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
