JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Medicine at the Penn State University College of Medicine invites applications for a position as a Researcher, a fixed-term/non-tenure track research faculty member (1.0 FTE). We seek an innovative basic scientist who will work collaboratively within an existing research program focused on mechanisms governing retroviral genomic RNA packaging, virus particle assembly, and virus-cell interactions. This individual should bring expertise in molecular biology and cloning, biochemical and cellular biology studies of retrovirus biology, and investigating ribonucleoprotein complex formation. Experience and/or prior training in the methods of live cell confocal imaging, ribonucleoprotein complex particle tracking, quantitative imaging analysis, in vitro protein-RNA binding assays, retrovirus assembly, viral RNA packaging, and fluorescent RNA labeling in living cells are critical for this position.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or MD/PhD) with at least 4-5 years of experience at the postdoctoral level. Candidates with evidence of significant intellectual contributions to her/his field, as demonstrated by a strong publication record, presentations at national meetings, and a history of national-level research funding will be given priority.
This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
