Rate of Pay/Range of Pay: $45,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Reading Coach is a highly skilled master teacher of education with the potential and desire to develop a deep knowledge of scientifically researched reading-based reading instruction and serves an important leadership role in the school acting as mentor and teacher to teachers, support staff, and students. The Reading Coach is also an important liaison to all external agents and technical resources dedicated to improving the school’s reading program and increasing opportunities for our students to become successful.
” Collaborates with and becomes an integral member of the school-based leadership team (School Improvement Team) and works closely with all school staff to plan professional development and school improvement.
” Plans, facilitates, and records school-wide reading team meetings and Response To Intervention (RTI) meetings.
” Assists in the collection, interpretation, and reporting of data.
” Communicates all data analysis for effective data driven decision making process for student learning intervention, program material supplements or additions, and identifies staff development needs.
” Provides coach led team meetings (professional development) focused on administering reading assessments to all students to determine student reading levels. Assessment tests include: DIBELS, AIMSweb, MAP, Wood Cock Johnson, Study Island and Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment II’s and other assessments as identified
” Works with all staff to indentify, implement, and evaluate model lesson plans from the core and intensive intervention reading program.
” Assists in establishing exemplary classroom practices with all teachers.
” Provides an active leadership role through active demonstration to achieve curriculum goals relating to phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and text comprehension.
” Commits and communicates to achieving the BIE Reading Program assurances and related components.
” Attends and participates in all local and regional training sessions as identified.
” Attends all staff meetings.
” Develops and maintains a professional relationship with all staff and community members.
” Maintains professional standards toward creating confidential relationships with all program participants, school staff and community members.
” Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
” Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
” Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
” Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
” Maintains a clean and organized work area.
” Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
” Appropriate Minnesota teaching license with emphasis in Reading is required.
” Demonstrated knowledge of reading content and/or related intervention programs/strategies.
” Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills.
” Demonstrated knowledge of reading assessments.
” Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
” Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
” Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
” Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
” Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
” Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
” Some travel may be required.
” Normal physical requirements.
