The Engineering Services team is structured to provide efficient and reliable architecture-engineering (AE) services to our U.S. Government clients for smaller engineering-only projects and task orders. Consisting of architectural, civil, control systems, electrical, mechanical, plant design, systems and project engineers, NS&E Engineering Services uses a “shared resources” model where team members work together in support of the full AE task order life cycle – industry engagement, proposal, and project delivery.

The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.

Responsibilities:

This role will support design development civil engineering designs for the project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, datasheets, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with other civil engineers and technical disciplines in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in executing design development and producing design documents for government customers in accordance with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide, including drawings, UFGS specifications, and calculations.

  • Development of grading and backfill design and drawings.
  • Road design and design documents.
  • Foundation design and drawings.
  • Assist with boring oversight, and site inspection and review of existing facilities.
  • Perform formal calculations and drawings.
  • Review vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
  • Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Grade 25: BS degree in Engineering (Civil or related), from an accredited university, with at least 6 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, at least 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Grade 26: BS degree in Engineering (Civil or related), from an accredited university, with at least 9 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, at least 15 years of relevant experience.
  • US citizenship is required per contract requirements.
  • Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in the USA (Civil or Structural Engineering).
  • Familiar with the provisions of AASHTHO, ASTM, ACI, ASTM, FHWA, MUTCD and WBDG UFC codes. Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.
  • Work experience should emphasize Civil Site design of heavy industrial type facilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, as well as Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Relevant experience includes related specifications.
  • Broad knowledge of the application of Civil engineering design principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, calculations, and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Civil or related Engineering, from an accredited university.
  • Advance experience in the use of AutoCAD, Civil3D and Revit.
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense or DOE.
  • Experience with use or knowledge of Revit and/or InRoads.
  • Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI MasterFormat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
  • Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
  • Experience in complex excavation approaches and construction execution, field experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the sitework, earthwork, roadway, drainage and structural design (steel and concrete) for industrial facilities.
