Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for developing, integrating, debugging, testing, and implementing software and applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems following security standards. In addition, this role is responsible to perform needs analysis, design, and support of University applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Application Support: Communicate and coordinate with system users and technical staff to identify application problems, determine possible alternatives, anticipate the effect of contingencies, and implement the optimum solution. 35%
  • Application Development: Develop and maintain software applications and integrations based on the functional requirements and build requisite data structures. Apply security best practices when developing applications. 30%
  • Test software, identify and repair software defects. 10% Yes
  • Document code and implementation strategies, assist with code reviews and other duties as assigned. 10%
  • Assist system users with specification development, evaluate specifications to translate the scope of work into project tasks and milestones, and assist with establishing the project delivery time. 10%
  • Support the overall goals of the University of Nebraska, work effectively and efficiently to achieve customer satisfaction, maintain and grow technical knowledge, skills and abilities by reading technical manuals and attending training sessions and conferences. 5%


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; equivalency considered
  • Three years of information systems experience; required
  • Demonstrated information systems experience to include use of programming languages and systems common to the job domain; required
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages -preferred
  • Must have excellent written/verbal communications and interpersonal skills with proven ability to initiate and facilitate team-oriented involvement and discussions; required
  • Must be flexible, collaborative, and innovative and able to function effectively in a rapidly evolving multi priority environment -required
  • Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills; required
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting enterprise applications: required
  • Demonstrated project management experience; preferred

This position has a minimum annual salary of $65,000 and is eligible for working remotely within the continental US.
