Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems has an opening for an experienced Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The selected candidate will fill the Eagle-3/NGP Software Engineering position. This role will have two separate responsibilities divided 50/50.

Eagle Software Scrubbing Tool Developer. This includes being able to work independently and proactively to understand an already developed software tool, including building and configuring its Maven project, configuring the various Maven plugins required, understanding and developing integration and unit tests, mapping Eagle requirements to the software tool, presenting and interfacing with customers in order to properly certify the tool, working with various teams to scrub and review their code as well as continue to provide updates and changes required to meet the future needs of the tool.

DSATS Software Developer. This requires understanding the concepts and design of system test controller software such as the processing of commands, telemetry, and events, and have the ability to adapt the development of the DSATS software as a product line for Eagle-3 as well as for NGP end users. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of Java and Python software development, database programming, and network communication protocols. This person will work closely with the Eagle-3 DSATS lead to learn the complexities of an existing system in order to properly maintain it for the future of NGP.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar STEM Degree

Minimum of 9 years of software development with Bachelor’s degree or 7 years with Master’s degree

Advanced programming experience in Java and Maven

Ability to work on-call/extended hours (1-3 times a year)

Active DoD Secret Clearance and ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Active SCI clearance (TS minimum)

Good understanding of basic networking concepts

Troubleshoot and debug software

Experience with databases and database concepts

Work effectively in a small team. Willing to take on challenges and take initiative to resolve issues.

Communicate technical information and issues with teammates, managers, and customers

Salary Range: $125,500.00 – $188,300.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
