What you will do as a Tax Paraprofessional—Account Resolution Coordinator:

The Account Resolution Coordinator is a tax paraprofessional that supports client-relationship professionals with tax controversy issues (notice resolution, penalty relief and collections) on behalf of clients. This role involves contacting the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities, corresponding on various tax account and collection issues, and preparing penalty abatement and relief requests.

The Account Resolution Coordinator will be expected to support the Managing Principal of Tax Quality, tax controversy attorneys, and National Tax Office professionals on other projects as workloads permit. These projects could include IRS examinations and appeals, installment agreements, offers in compromise, litigation support and general firm-wide projects and initiatives.

S/he will work closely with regional teams to promote the development and standardization of controversy-related policies, procedures and resources. S/he will also assist with drafting internal articles/blogs/communications and developing tax quality training for CLA professionals.

Your qualifications include:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • 20+ years of experience in tax advocacy, examination, controversy or account resolution
  • Experience in an accounting or law firm, IRS Chief Counsel’s office or Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) preferred

Skills:

  • Superior ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on organization and detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities based on incoming tasks
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to identify questions not asked including those affecting overall client results and firm risk
  • Superior ability to work and collaborate with others

Certifications/Licenses:

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent certification required within 6 months of hire
