Job description: Garmin International is hiring an entry-level User Experience Researcher with a passion for coaching, running and familiarity with our Garmin Forerunner product lines. This position will be at our World HQ in Olathe, KS. As a User Experience Researcher you will perform usability testing and other common research methods as directed, such as surveys, card sorts and persona development. Usability testing and other research tactics are employed to objectify and guide the UX design process.


  • Assists in defining general approaches as well as specific solutions to research problems
  • Applies UX research expertise to all assigned projects
  • Must demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin’s business model, including engineering, sales and marketing
  • Must demonstrate the ability to analyze research data and find opportunities for improvements and new ideas
  • Assists in research planning and preparation, as assigned
  • Effectively utilizes different methodologies (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Works with internal clients to help define user research needs
  • Works with project leads to understand feature vision and help visualize/communicate it
  • Performs the array of usability research phases: assisting in applying the appropriate methodologies, research plans, recruiting and scheduling testers, moderating usability sessions, and analyzing results
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams of designers, developers, copywriters and business stakeholders and assist in developing test materials
  • Analyzes primary and secondary data for usage patterns and to identify UX improvement opportunities
  • Assists with data analysis and creation of reports
  • Contributes to the analysis of user data to identify actionable insights
  • Helps evangelize research findings to diverse audiences through reports and presentations
  • Remains current on user interface research and design trends
  • Stays abreast with new methodologies, techniques, and software




  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction from an accredited four-year college or university or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Exposure to quantitative and qualitative UX methodologies such as usability testing, task analysis, heuristic reviews, card sorts, persona development, contextual inquiries and surveys.
  • Must have exposure to analyzing and synthesizing user data to identify usability insights and translate those insights into actionable recommendations
  • Must possess observation and documentation skills
  • Must possess knowledge of usability, accessibility, SEO and other standard best practices
  • Demonstrated experience simultaneously supporting multiple projects of varying complexity
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Must be able to demonstrate creativity
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and demonstrate the ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment
  • Must be detail-oriented and can work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Garmin Forerunner product lines
  • Familiarity with the Garmin Clipboard application
  • Experience with coaching a running team
